Abstract
Objectives: Children with specific language impairment (SLI) often show greater limitations in grammatical morphology than other areas of language. The purpose of this study was to examine the production of grammatical morphemes in children with SLI compared with typically developing children, focusing on adverbial particles in sentence repetition.

Methods: Ten children from each group, ages 3;0-3;11, participated in this study. The test sentences all followed the format ¡®subject+object+adverb+predicate¡¯. The test sentences were divided into two categories: adverbial words without an adverbial particle (pure adverbial condition), and adverbial words formed by adding adverbial particles to nouns (adverbial particle condition).

Results: In the sentence repetition, the children with SLI showed significantly lower scores. Both groups showed lower scores for the sentences with adverbial particle conditions, but the difference was significantly more pronounced in the children with SLI.

Conclusion: These results suggest that the gap in performance between the two groups involves a quantitative rather than qualitative difference.
